Okta recently announced they will no longer offer SMS authentication within the Okta Identity Engine or Identity Manager (Classic) platforms.
Here’s what you should know:
- Okta’s SMS offering will not be available to any Okta customers (OIE or Classic) at the date of your next renewal, beginning September 15, 2024.
- You don’t have to give up SMS authentication! This change simply means Okta will not provide the service as part of your platform subscription – you can connect your own telecom provider to continue using SMS as an authentication option.
- You don’t have to wait for September 15th to pass to make this change. Give yourself enough time to select the right vendor, set up the connection, and conduct full testing before Okta removes this service from your instance.
- To make this switch easier for you, BeyondID has partnered with Vonage to offer Okta customers a managed SMS solution.
