Unpacking Oktane24: Key Takeaways and 2025 Predictions for Identity Security

BeyondID was a Platinum Sponsor of Oktane24 – Okta’s annual identity conference and the year’s premier opportunity for attendees to connect with the “best in the industry” and learn about the solutions and technologies driving identity forward.

As an Okta Apex Partner, Oktane was an opportunity for BeyondID to talk with attendees about the real-world identity challenges organizations are currently navigating. The sessions we attend and conversations we have with our industry peers help us understand where the most current technology flows and how we can continue supporting our customers’ identity evolution as a managed identity solutions provider (MISP).

BeyondID at Oktane24

BeyondID began a memorable week at Oktane24 by attending Okta’s Partner Summit 2024, where our CEO & Co-Founder Arun Shrestha sat on a panel discussing digital transformation initiatives driving progress in the public sector. BeyondID was also honored at the Summit with Okta’s Amer Service Delivery Partner of the Year, marking our third consecutive year as an Okta Partner of the Year!

Announced as Oktane24 was kicking off, our newly minted strategic focus on fraud prevention was largely reflected in the thought leadership sessions we led throughout the week. BeyondID VP Solutions Neeraj Methi led a virtual session titled “Combat Digital Identity Fraud: Enhancing Security and User Experience” and moderated a joint in-person session with TDECU’s John Gallo titled “Enhancing Security Posture Without Compromising User Experience”.

Our Oktane Celebration Party at Mr. Chow may have been our best party yet! Generously sponsored by our friends and partners at Oloid (gold sponsor) and Vonage (silver sponsor), the Oktane Celebration Party was an unforgettable night of networking, socializing, camaraderie, and great conversations with our customers and partners.

Oktane24 set conversations in motion that will continue throughout the coming year. Now that the event has concluded, we’re eager to reflect on some of our key takeaways and predictions for the year ahead.

Key Takeaways

From VP Solutions Neeraj Methi & Director of Solutions Vic Tapia

Interoperability Profile for Secure Identity in the Enterprise (IPSIE)

Lack of standardization has a hugely negative impact on identity security. In response, IPSIE aims to be an open-source identity standard that would enable SaaS solutions that simplify and streamline core identify functions – authentication, authorization and risk, signals and sessions — and foster complete visibility into your secure ecosystem.

Identity > SSO and MFA

Identity must be secure before, during, and after authentication — It is no longer viable to only monitor and enforce security controls at the login screen.

AI-Powered Identity Management

Key integrations with popular AI frameworks and models are here. These integrations will enable IAM solutions to leverage AI to analyze user behavior, detect anomalies, and dynamically adjust access permissions based on real-time context.

2025 Predictions

From VP Solutions Neeraj Methi & Director of Solutions Vic Tapia

Generative AI will bring new attack vectors.

Identity fraud is only getting smarter. Over the next year we’re foing to see Generative AI introduce a new wave of synthetic identity threats to gain unauthorized access to systems via digital identity fraud. Robust identity verification capabilities to detect synthetic identities and anomalies will need to be widely adopted to mitigate these attacks.

User Experience will be a central consideration of every cybersecurity transformation.

Security and experience must go hand-in-hand. Where cumbersome security measures have a directly negative impact on adoption and engagement, user experience will become a key component of every cybersecurity initiative over the next year.

Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) standards will expand over more industries.

Rather than relying on perimeter-based security, zero trust architecture enforces identity verification at every stage, requiring continuous authentication and authorization based on real-time data and context, regardless of location or device. Since September 2024, all federal agencies have been required to implement zero trust architecture (Executive Order 14028). We believe standards such as EO 14028 will only become more widespread over the next year.

Organizations will continue investing in Customer Identity Cloud (CIC).

The appeal of CIC – Okta’s solution for flexible CIAM platform integrations – is widespread, and only growing. Customers like that they can pick and choose the right combination of CIAM solutions for their unique situation, and that interest isn’t going anywhere.
