What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Fun, sincere, and reliable.

Last book you read, or podcast you listened to?

“Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod, is an inspiring and practical book that encourages readers to start their day with purpose and intention. It provides a straightforward framework called the SAVERS method, which incorporates activities like silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, and scribing into a morning routine.

What is your morning or evening routine?

My morning routine: drink a glass of water, stretches, 5 min workout, 5 min meditation and a two-mile run

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?

Watch a good movie/series, like Vikings, The Walking Dead (my personal favorite), or Outlander (my wife’s favorite). Then I play board games with my kids, like Snakes and Ladders or Monopoly.

If you could only eat one dish for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Tacos! Any kind of tacos: pastor, asada, barbacoa, you name. Even though there are some good places to eat tacos in Guadalajara, in my personal experience you can find great stands just walking along the street.

What is your favorite form of exercise or physical activity?

Swimming

What is your favorite quote or saying?

“The most effective way to do it is to do it” – Amelia Earhart

Working as an English and Computer Science teacher for kids.

Briefly describe your career prior to BID?

All my professional career has been in the L&D field in various industries like Call Center, Manufacturing, and IT, from working as a trainer (facilitator) doing face-to-face training, to Training Coordinator, Training Manager and now, as Instructional Designer.

The opportunity to positively impact the learning experiences of people and help them succeed.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever heard?

Average is the enemy.

How do you stay updated on the latest trends and developments in your industry?

Attending webinars and demo sessions (especially about AI), taking courses and certifications, and reading blogs and newsletters (like trainingindustry.com and elearningindustry.com).

What is your approach to managing deadlines and prioritizing tasks?

I use the Eisenhower Matrix when I need to effectively prioritize multiple tasks with overlapping deadlines. The Eisenhower Matrix, also known as the Decision Matrix, is a simple but powerful productivity tool. that helps you prioritize tasks based on their urgency and importance.

What do you think is the most important quality for a team to have in order to succeed?

I’d say ‘Communication’, which must be effective and two-way.

What do you think is the biggest challenge currently facing your industry?

I would say it is the rapid pace of technological advancements and digital transformation. A great example of this is Artificial Intelligence, presenting the challenge of maintaining learner engagement and motivation when relying heavily on AI algorithms, as learners may miss.
